The first season of The Rising of the Shield Hero aired from January 9 to June 26, 2019, and consisted of 25 episodes.
Shortly after the show ended, it was announced that a second season had been greenlit for production. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the production of the second season was delayed.
The good news is that the wait is finally over. The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 is set to premiere on April 6, 2022.
The show will air on AT-X, Tokyo MX, BS11, and TVA in Japan. Funimation has licensed the anime series and will stream the show on its website in North America.

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Plot: What is it about?
The Rising of the Shield Hero follows the story of Naofumi Iwatani, a young man who is summoned to another world along with three other men from different worlds. They are each given a weapon, and Naofumi is chosen as the “Shield Hero”.
With his shield as his only weapon, Naofumi must find a way to survive in this strange new world. He soon meets Raphtalia, a girl who has been turned into a Demi-Human by one of the Four Cardinal Heroes. Together, they set out on an adventure to defeat the monsters that are terrorizing the kingdom.
In the second season, the story will pick up where it left off, with Naofumi and his companions continue their fight against the Waves of Destruction. However, they will face new challenges and enemies in this next arc.
